Georgia’s oldest city, Savannah is full of history. Its downtown area has countless historical buildings and is home to 22 squares. Many events take place in the city throughout the year, including the Savannah Music Festival. Savannah is also home to some of America’s oldest churches. At the end of the day, Savannah offers beautiful sightseeing and numerous nightlife and dining options.
A Caribbean restaurant, you can expect a mean Jerk Chicken from Sweet spice. It’s definitely the crowd favorite here. Since some of their options are incredibly spicy, order the sample platter to test the waters if it’s your first time visiting. They also excel at fried plantains, browning them perfectly. The ambiance here is perfect. It’s definitively casual, and the seating is close. The interior is filled with Jamaican themes, from their wall coloring to all the little nicknacks they have displayed. In all, Sweet Spice is the perfect restaurant to meet new people over some great food.

Calling the ambiance here homey is an understatement. The restaurant is inside a classic Southern plantation house. This place is a must-visit based on the location alone. The food here is just as jaw dropping. Everything from the entrees to the deserts are delectable and served with a beautiful presentation. Coming with fried green tomatoes and bacon with the perfect crunch, their BLT salad is amazing. For seafood, be sure to try their tangy Scored Flounder.

One of Savannah’s most unique dining options, Treylor Park is perfect for night out. The restaurant has a full bar and very generous portion sizes. The Peanut Butter and Jelly Wings are sure to catch your eye as you flip through the menu. If you’re feeling adventurous, go for it. Some other dishes for daredevils are the Venison Sloppy Joe or the Pancake Chicken Taco. While they are certainly a specialty restaurant, they do offer standard American fare like the Classic Grilled Cheese and a killer Chef Salad with turkey.

Featuring homemade African sausage, baked chicken and overflowing with cheese and vegetables, one bite and you’ll see why it’s the staff favorite. For something a little closer to home, “Something Like Pizza” is a great choice. Baked pita bread topped with spinach, tomato, feta cheese and marinara sauce, this is one “pizza” that will make veggie lovers fall in love all over again.

If you like crab, this is the place for you. Blue crab dip, crab cakes, crab stew — crab is definitely the specialty here. However, it’s a Southern restaurant at heart, so expect a great BBQ sandwich from the Crystal Beer Parlor.
