One of the Savannah area’s smaller town, Rincon is known for its Southern charm and big city landscape. You won’t find much better American-Style restaurants and bars in the immediate area. So if you’re taking a trip into Richmond, be ready for a full meal at a great price.
Alibi’s is a great bar for weekly drink and food specials. With Taco Tuesdays and 50 cent wing Wednesday, Alibi’s is a great bar for a lower budget. However, the wings here are worth a shot on any night of the week. The ambiance here is definitely leaning more towards a restaurant. The place is spacious, well kept, and there’s tons of tables for sitting down for a meal.

If there’s one thing Ms. Jean does right, it’s chicken. From the fried chicken breasts to the chicken meatloaf, don’t expect any dry chicken coming out of this place. The batter she uses for her fried chicken is amazing, and the batter to chicken ratio here is perfect. But it’s not all chicken here. The stuffed peppers are just like mom’s, and one bite of the sides and you’ll be flooded with memories of at-home barbecues.

While there is no shortage of great down-home cooking, Rincon offers some great choices for Mexican — El Real being one of its finest. First timers have to try the signature El Real combo. With an enchilada, a soft fajita and a chicken taquito, you’ll have a good idea of what El Real is about after this meal. Being very careful to preserve natural flavor, it’s never too spicy here. But if you expect a little more kick out of your Mexican food, go ahead and order up a side of hot sauce.

Granted, a German/Thai restaurant is a rare sight, but one visit to the Schnitzel Shack and you’ll see how good of a combination this can be. The Thai salad here is beautiful and tastes amazing. While Thai food is known for its spiciness, the Thai salad is the perfect amount of spice. The schnitzels here are just as amazing as the heartier Thai meals. The schnitzel is served with a host of sauces, but the peppercorn sauce is a must-try. The Jaeger Schnitzel is another safe bet — just be sure to pair it with one of their authentic German beers.

Having a slogan of “eat more pork”, it only takes a few meals at the Rusty Pig to be converted. The sauce here is hands-down the best BBQ sauce you’ll find in Savannah. Whether it’s on the ribs, the chicken sandwiches or the wraps, it’s the best complement to a tender, slow-cooked BBQ meats. Best of all, they don’t rely on their BBQ sauce, so while it’s great, you’ll be tasting good Southern-cooked food underneath it.
